ABOUT THE POSITION

The Strategic Planning team drives the long-term growth and competitive positioning of the Columbia Brand. Through strategic planning, consumer and market insights, and cross-functional partnership, the team helps shape enterprise priorities and ensure the organization is positioned to deliver sustainable growth.

The Strategic Planning Director, reporting to the Sr. Director – Columbia Brand Transformation, is responsible for shaping and advancing the Columbia Brand’s global enterprise strategy. This role partners closely with Brand Leadership to define strategic direction, develop multi-year plans, and ensure strategy is actionable, analytically grounded, and aligned across consumer, brand, and go-to-market (GTM) priorities. The Strategic Planning Director serves as a key thought partner to senior leaders, helping the organization navigate complex opportunities, prioritize resources, and drive long-term growth.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Lead the development of the Columbia Brand’s long-range strategy, translating consumer insights, market dynamics, financial considerations, and business priorities into clear strategic choices and growth opportunities.
  • Partner with the Brand Leadership Team to shape strategic priorities, frame critical business decisions, and drive alignment on growth strategies, go-to-market direction, and investment tradeoffs.
  • Develop and maintain multi-year strategic plans and roadmaps, ensuring alignment between brand strategy, enterprise priorities, and execution plans.
  • Leverage consumer insights, competitive intelligence, market trends, and business analytics to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and inform strategic recommendations.
  • Create executive-level presentations, long-range plans, business cases, and leadership materials that clearly communicate strategic priorities and recommendations.
  • Structure and facilitate strategic planning processes that improve organizational alignment, prioritization, and decision-making effectiveness.
  • Collaborate across functions to identify interdependencies, assess risks and opportunities, and drive execution against strategic objectives.
  • Establish and promote strategic planning frameworks, tools, and best practices that elevate strategic thinking and planning rigor across the organization.

YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Strategy, Finance, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, corporate development, brand strategy, or related functions.
  • Deep expertise in long-range strategic planning, prioritization frameworks, and translating business vision into actionable plans.
  • Advanced ability to leverage consumer insights, analytics, market intelligence, and external trends to inform strategic decisions.
  • Strong understanding of go-to-market strategies and the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders around enterprise priorities.
  • Exceptional executive communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with experience developing materials for senior leadership and board-level audiences.
